Tension in the Parliament rose again: Did they uncover your head too?

During the discussions on the 2025 Central Government Budget and the 2023 Final Account Law Proposal ongoing in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, AK Party Istanbul Deputy Nilhan Ayan gave a speech at the podium. In her speech, Ayan referred to the past headscarf issue, stating, "Thank God I stand by Erdoğan, who brought our oppressed women from the 28 February period to the Grand National Assembly of our nation. Unfortunately, in our country, for decades, young girls who wanted to study with their headscarves have been troubled."

"DID THEY MAKE YOU TAKE OFF YOUR HEADSCARF TOO?"

While Ayan was speaking, CHP Çorum Deputy Mehmet Tahtasız's remark, "Did they make you take off your headscarf too?" ignited the debate.

"YOU WILL LEARN TO LISTEN WITHOUT APPLYING VIOLENCE TO WOMEN"

Responding immediately from the podium to Tahtasız's words, Ayan said:

"You will learn to listen without applying violence to a woman. You will get used to it. Don't worry. We will get you used to it. Don't worry. When it comes to words, you talk about culture, art, and progress. But you turn our girls away from the doors of the universities they have earned, and you call this modernity. Today, I look at our assembly. I am proud of our headscarf-wearing female deputies in our General Assembly. And I say thank God, thank God, thank God that I am a deputy of the AK Party. I say that I am a deputy of the AK Party, which has shattered this reactionary mentality. I greet our assembly with respect."
