The proposal for a law amending the Animal Protection Law, prepared by the AK Party and submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly, has caused controversy. Animal rights activists have criticized the proposal, especially for allowing euthanasia for stray animals that pose a danger to public safety, particularly in the presence of sick animals. The discussions on the controversial proposal began in the Turkish Grand National Assembly's Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Affairs Commission.
DISPUTE BETWEEN AK PARTY AND DEM PARTY MEMBERS

Meanwhile, opposition party members and representatives of some animal rights associations, who attended the meeting, requested a change in the venue, stating that the meeting room was inadequate. When Commission Chairman Vahit Kirişci, an AK Party member from Kahramanmaraş, responded negatively to the request, the reaction from the members increased. As a result, Kirişci announced a 30-minute break in the meeting. After the break, Kirişci announced that the commission meeting would be moved to the larger Planning and Budget Commission hall.
COMMOTION AROSE
Subsequently, commission members moved to the Planning and Budget Commission hall. Except for members of parliament, journalists, and officials, no one was allowed into the hall. Animal rights activists tried to enter the hall to observe the discussions on the proposal but were denied entry.
