Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev made harsh statements that will further escalate tensions between Germany and Russia. Saying that Germany's facilities producing military equipment for the Ukrainian army "deserve" a direct attack, Medvedev extended his threat all the way to Berlin. The statement came after the Berlin administration announced a series of measures against Russia due to an explosive-laden drone found at Leipzig-Halle Airport.
Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, said that Germany "deserves" a direct attack on its facilities producing military equipment for the Ukrainian army.
"NO NEGOTIATIONS WITH TERRORISTS"
In a statement on his social media account, Medvedev assessed Germany's decision to take certain measures against Russia on the grounds that an explosive-laden drone was found at Leipzig-Halle Airport. Emphasizing that Germany's accusations regarding the drone were baseless, Medvedev stated that the German administration exhibited a hostile approach towards Russia, saying, "They (the Germans) deserve a direct attack on the facilities producing military equipment for the Bandera regime, and even on other places in Berlin." Medvedev, regarding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's threat to Russian civil aviation, made the assessment: "Terrorists are not negotiated with; their actions are met with retaliation. Every kind of terrorism has sponsors. Currently, these are the leaders of Western countries, especially European ones. They frequently travel to Kiev by train."
WHAT HAPPENED?
On August 4, a drone, assessed to contain an explosive device, was found near a Ukrainian cargo plane at Leipzig-Halle Airport in Germany. US intelligence claimed that the characteristics of the explosive-laden drone found were "specific" to Russian military intelligence. Yesterday, the German government announced a series of measures, stating that the findings from the investigation into the incident pointed to Russia's responsibility. According to the decision, Russia's Consulate General in Bonn will be closed as of September 18, the contract regarding the Russian House in Berlin will be terminated, entry controls for Russian citizens will be tightened, and pressure on Russia's so-called shadow fleet will be increased.
