In the town of Baydiğin in the Aydıncık district of Yozgat, a collapse occurred in a field of approximately 20 decares prepared for sowing, and deep cracks formed at different points of the land. Due to a slide whose cause is not yet known, an electricity pole in the area tilted. Mehmet Salman, a local resident who said they did not feel any earthquake, asked that measures be taken to prevent harm to people and animals.
Subsidence occurred in an approximately 20-decare field prepared for sowing in Baydiğin town of the Aydıncık district of Yozgat. While deep cracks formed at various points of the land, the dangerous area was filmed with a drone camera.
THE FARMER HEADING TO THE FIELD NOTICED IT A farmer going to his field noticed the landslide in Baydiğin town, which occurred at an unknown time. Seeing that slides and collapses had occurred at different points of the land, the farmer gave up sowing the field. While some points in the land, where deep cracks resembling an earthquake had formed, were seen to be quite deep, one of the surrounding electricity poles was also observed to be tilted. The cause of the slides and collapses, which pose a danger to people and animals, is not yet known.
WE DID NOT FEEL AN EARTHQUAKE; THE POLE HAS FALLEN OVER Mehmet Salman, who stated that the cracks formed in the area pose a danger, said they were waiting for precautions to be taken. Salman said, “A friend who came to sow the field a day earlier noticed it. He cannot know exactly which day it happened. So we noticed this place a day before yesterday. We expect precautions to be taken here so that people and animals are not harmed. You see, there are huge cracked areas. We expect precautions to be taken for these. In some places where we throw stones, it goes rattling down for one or two seconds. Some parts are quite deep. That is, in this 20–30-decare field, maybe it could be even more. I am giving an estimate. We did not take it as an earthquake; the friend who first saw it said, ‘The ground above the coal mine has slid.’ We did not feel any earthquake. There was no such feeling either. At least if there had been a feeling, we would have said it slid when the earthquake happened. There is electricity here. The pole we saw has fallen over. At any moment it could topple and cause a very big fault, could harm someone. We expect precautions to be taken for these.”
