During the major flooding disaster in Texas, a house was suddenly swept towards the Guadalupe River due to the overwhelming flood. The moments when the house, containing many people, was engulfed by water were watched in horror by those nearby. So far, at least 80 people have lost their lives in the flood. In one of the affected areas, a summer camp called Camp Mystic, 10 children are missing.
In the major flood disaster in Texas, a prefabricated house with many people inside was swept away by the floodwaters. Those watching the moment screamed in horror.
The house was dragged towards the Guadalupe River during the sudden flood in the Kerr County area. In the footage, the house is seen quickly being engulfed by water in the dark, while people around are screaming in panic. One witness shouted, "Oh my God, there are so many people inside!"
It is still unknown how many people were in the house and whether they were able to escape. According to officials, at least 80 people have died in this flood in Texas so far.
At Camp Mystic, a summer camp affected by the flood, 10 children are missing. Footage from the camp shows beds and toys submerged in water, while vehicles have been swept away by the floodwaters.
Rescue teams have found dozens of bodies despite the thick mud and difficult conditions. More than 850 people have been rescued in the last 36 hours.
The school district administrator Bobby Templeton said:
"Families still looking for their loved ones are coming here. We have been able to reach some people, but there are still missing persons."
Due to the rainfall, the river rose a full 8 meters in just 45 minutes. The rain is still ongoing around San Antonio, and flood warnings continue. Officials say that nearly a year's worth of rain fell in just a few hours, which is why the flood has been so devastating.
Dalton Rice, the city manager of Kerville, stated that they have rescued hundreds of people from the camps and are keeping some in safe places:
"We are providing water and food to those who remain there."
Unfortunately, deaths have also occurred in different areas. The current official death toll is 59, but there are concerns that this number may rise.
Information has been provided to the families of the missing children. Some families have made calls for help on social media.
It has been confirmed by families that some children have died. It was announced that 9-year-old Janie Hunt and Renee Smajstrla lost their lives. A relative of Renee shared on social media that she was happy with her friends on her last day.
The family of Lila Bonner also announced that their daughter has passed away. Lila was sharing a house with her best friend Eloise Peck. Eloise's mother said that the little girl loved animals very much and was friends with everyone.
Among those who lost their lives at the camp is also Dick Eastland, the owner and manager of the camp.
