The 16-year-old child exposed the stepfather's lie: He set my mother on fire and watched her burn with a laugh.

In Muğla, Hasan Bulut poured gasoline on his religiously married wife Hanife Yılmaz and set her on fire. Yılmaz lost her life, while Bulut claimed that Yılmaz committed suicide. Halil A, Bulut's stepson, who was interviewed, said, "My stepfather said to my mother, 'I will burn you and the house.' When my brother and I went to the garden after hearing screams, we saw our mother burning. My stepfather was watching my mother burn with a smile."



FIRST THEY ARGUED, THEN HE POURED GASOLINE AND SET HER ON FIRE



The incident took place on May 19th around 22:00 in Menteşe's Düğerek neighborhood on Hafız Gürül Street. According to allegations, auto electrician Hasan Bulut and his religiously married wife and mother of two children, Hanife Yılmaz, had an argument in their backyard for reasons yet to be determined. Bulut poured the gasoline from a bottle onto the woman after the argument escalated into a fight. Bulut then set Yılmaz on fire.



NEIGHBORS CAME TO THE AID OF THE BURNING WOMAN



Neighbors who heard Yılmaz's screams came to her aid and extinguished the flames. After the report, the police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Yılmaz was taken to Muğla Education and Research Hospital by ambulance. Yılmaz, who was severely injured, was transferred to İzmir Bozyaka Education and Research Hospital. Despite the interventions, Yılmaz lost her life yesterday morning.



"HE SET HIMSELF ON FIRE WITH GASOLINE"



Hasan Bulut, who was questioned by the police, claimed that Hanife Yılmaz poured gasoline on herself and ignited her clothes with a lighter to commit suicide.



"HE WAS SMILING WHILE WATCHING MY MOTHER BURN"



As part of the investigation initiated by Muğla Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the police took the statement of Halil A., the 16-year-old son of Hanife Yılmaz. During his statement, accompanied by a psychologist, Halil A. said, "On the day of the incident, while we were sitting at home, my stepfather and my mother argued in the garden. My stepfather said to my mother, 'I will burn you and the house.' When my brother and I went to the garden after hearing screams, we saw our mother burning. My stepfather was watching my mother burn with a smile. With the help of our neighbors, we extinguished the fire. We hid the truth because Hasan Bulut threatened us with death and scared us."



SUSPECT ARRESTED



Hasan Bulut, who was taken into custody, was arrested and sent to prison by the judicial authorities.
