A 19-year-old university student living in Shanghai, China, identified only by his surname Li, has prepared a notarized will leaving his apartment and savings worth approximately 20 million yuan (112 million TL) to his childhood friend.

According to a report by the South China Morning Post, the assets were transferred to him after his parents divorced and remarried.

HE EXPLAINED THE REASON FOR HIS DECISION

Li stated that after his parents remarried, they did not pay enough attention to him, and therefore, no emotional bond was formed between them.

The young man, who also mentioned engaging in extreme sports and risking his life, expressed that he did not want his assets to pass to his parents' new spouses in the event of something happening to him.

He explained that for this reason, he designated his most trusted childhood friend as his heir.

THE WILL WAS OFFICIALLY REGISTERED

Li's will was registered in the presence of a notary at the China Will Registration Center in Shanghai.

Authorities at the center stated that the person named in the will has 60 days to accept the inheritance, and if not accepted within this period, the inheritance rights will be considered waived.

BECOMING COMMON AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE

Officials from the China Will Registration Center announced that there has been a notable increase in the number of young people preparing wills in recent years.

According to the center's data, more than 400,000 wills have been registered to date, with those born after 1980, 1990, and 2000 showing increasing interest in preparing wills.
