Due to severe weather conditions in the Black Sea, the 238-meter-long Liberian-flagged crude oil tanker BANDA, which ran aground off Sarıyer Kısırkaya on October 15, was rescued from where it was located 5 days later. The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure announced that, following an underwater inspection by a diving team, the tanker was refloated through an operation carried out with boats, an emergency response vessel, and tugboats.

On October 15, the Liberian-flagged crude oil tanker named 'BANDA', which drifted off Kısırkaya, approached the shore and ran aground. The approximately 238-meter-long and 42-meter-wide tanker remained at the point where it ran aground.
RESCUED WITH DIVERS AND TUGS
In the statement made on the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure's social media account, "The Banda Ship was rescued. The 238-meter-long Liberian-flagged Banda tanker, which ran aground in the Black Sea due to severe weather conditions, was rescued from where it was and refloated as a result of the works carried out off Istanbul Sarıyer Kısırkaya. Following the underwater survey by our diver team affiliated with our General Directorate of Coastal Safety, our rescue operation was successfully carried out with the participation of our rescue expert, our KEGM-4 boat, our Nene Hatun Emergency Response Ship, and our Kurtarma-8 and Şark tugs," statements were included.
