Germany-based chocolate producer DreiMeister Spezialitäten has entered bankruptcy proceedings due to rising costs. While it was announced that the company, which has a history of around 50 years, will continue production, employee salaries are stated to be secure. The company management cited rising cocoa prices, energy expenses, and personnel costs as the main reasons for the financial crisis. DreiMeister's products are exported to more than 20 countries.

Germany-based chocolate manufacturer DreiMeister Spezialitäten announced that it has entered insolvency proceedings due to financial pressures. The company, operating in the town of Werl in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, initiated a provisional self-administration process on May 21, 2026.

It was announced that the company, with a history of approximately 50 years, will not cease its operations for now. The firm is reported to employ around 110 people.

PRODUCTION WILL CONTINUE

In a statement from the company management, it was noted that production continues and there will be no disruptions to current orders. It was also stated that employee salaries are secure.

It was announced that the restructuring process will be led by current manager Markus Luckey, and economist and lawyer Michael Schütte has been appointed as the provisional administrator.

COCOA PRICES STRAINED THE COMPANY

Company manager Markus Luckey cited rising raw material, energy, and personnel costs as the main reasons for the financial difficulties. He noted that particularly the historic surge in cocoa prices in recent times has severely impacted the German confectionery industry.

DreiMeister Spezialitäten is known for its handmade truffle and praline varieties. Founded in the 1950s, the company's products are now exported to more than 20 countries. The firm's customer portfolio includes hotels, airlines, and Michelin-starred restaurants.
