An 81-year-old man in Edirne brutally beat a dog he had locked in an unused section of a village coffeehouse with his cane. The owner of the establishment was shocked when he found his dog covered in blood and watched the security camera footage. The owner stated, "I called him over and asked why he was mistreating the dog, but he left without answering. This is animal cruelty. He is abusing animals here."
Kazım Özen, who runs a café in the village of Vaysal, located in the Lalapaşa district of Edirne, received news that his 5-month-old dog named "Bobi" had been assaulted. Finding his dog covered in blood, Özen reviewed the security camera footage from his workplace after the incident.
HE WAS SHOCKED WHEN HE WATCHED THE FOOTAGE
Özen saw in the recordings that Fahrettin D. from the neighboring village of Ömeroba entered the unused section of the café and assaulted the dog with his cane. Özen stated that he asked Fahrettin D. why he had assaulted his dog when he returned to the village, but he did not receive a response.
"ANIMALS ARE NOT MISTREATED HERE"
Özen said, "I learned from friends that he hit the dog. When he came in the evening, I asked him, I looked at the camera footage, and I saw that the dog had done nothing wrong. I even called him and asked why he mistreated the dog, but he left without answering. This is hostility towards dogs. He is mistreating animals here," he said.
"WE REALIZED IT WITH THE DOG'S SCREAM"
Café employee Yavuz Gündağ also stated that they realized the incident with the dog's scream, saying, "We actually realized the incident with the dog's scream. We came and checked the camera. At first, he enters, closes the door, and then starts hitting the dog with his cane. He walks around trying to catch it, hitting it two or three more times. Then he traps it behind a barrel and hits it on the head. We constantly take care of this dog here. It has been with us for 5 months. I have been taking care of it since the New Year, I raised it, gave it milk, and fed it bread. When I first saw the footage, I was very angry. I didn't want to hit the person who did it; if I had, I would have been in a guilty position," he said.
"HE SAID HE BEAT THE DOG BECAUSE IT ATE HIS FOOD"
Villager Veli Koşucu also expressed their sadness about the incident, stating, "While working in the kitchen, we heard the dog's scream. I looked inside, and he was beating the dog. He said he beat the dog because it ate his food. I told him that the dog wouldn't do such a thing, and that we already feed it," he said.
