Following the detention of manager Ayşe Barım on charges of "attempting to abolish the Republic of Turkey or obstructing its functions," actors Rıza Kocaoğlu and Mehmet Günsür were brought to the Istanbul Courthouse for questioning.
Manager Ayşe Barım has been subjected to an investigation due to claims in the written and visual media regarding her participation in the Gezi Park events. Barım was detained on charges of 'attempting to overthrow the Republic of Turkey or preventing it from performing its duties.'
As part of the investigation, actors Rıza Kocaoğlu and Mehmet Günsür were brought to the Istanbul Courthouse for questioning.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office accepted the claims regarding Ayşe Barım, who manages many artists and actors, as a report based on the posts and news on social media platforms, and an investigation was initiated ex officio to uncover the material truth.
As part of the investigation opened against her, a travel ban was imposed on Ayşe Barım, and her actor Serenay Sarıkaya testified as a witness.
An ex officio investigation was also opened against Ayşe Barım based on claims in the written and visual media that she participated in the Gezi Park protests and organized her actors. Barım was detained this morning on charges of 'attempting to overthrow the Republic of Turkey or preventing it from performing its duties.'
In a statement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the following expressions were included:
"In the analysis studies regarding the suspect, it was determined that during the period from 29/05/2013 to 02/06/2013, she directed the artists associated with her company ID İletişim Danışmanlık A.Ş. to participate in the Gezi Park events, and it was also established that she personally participated in the events with the artists associated with her company. Emine Ayşe Barım, who was determined to be one of the planners of the events, has been detained for the crime of 'Attempting to Overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey or Preventing It from Performing Its Duties.'
Actor Dolunay Soysert and Halit Ergenç were also summoned to the courthouse to give their statements.
