The agenda in the corridors of power is Soylu's immunity: If a criminal complaint is filed, the application can be evaluated.

Former Minister of Interior, Süleyman Soylu, had applied to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey with a petition requesting the removal of his parliamentary immunity. It has been learned that neither the Presidency of the Assembly nor the AK Party group has such an agenda, and Soylu's immunity can only be lifted if it is approved by the General Assembly. It is alleged that there have been discussions in the ruling party circles stating that "if a criminal complaint is filed, this application can be evaluated," emphasizing that there is no indictment against Soylu in the Parliament.

Former Minister of Interior and AK Party Istanbul Deputy Süleyman Soylu submitted a petition to the Speaker of the Parliament about 10 days ago, requesting the removal of his parliamentary immunity.

Soylu, who stated that it has become necessary to fight against defamation and slander on a legal basis, requested the removal of his immunity. Soylu's immunity can only be lifted if it is accepted by the General Assembly. However, neither the Presidency of the Parliament nor the AK Party group has such an agenda.

"SUBMIT ANY INFORMATION OR DOCUMENTS YOU HAVE"

According to the news on Gazeteduvar, in the power corridors, it is said that there is no need for any action regarding Soylu's application because "Süleyman Soylu has submitted a petition for the removal of his immunity, but there is no indictment against him in the Parliament. Therefore, there is no situation that requires any action. With this application, Soylu is saying 'You are making a lot of allegations against me. The prosecutor's office is there. Submit any information or documents you have, let it be the subject of an investigation. Let an indictment come. I am already submitting a petition for the removal of my immunity as a member of parliament.' If an indictment is submitted, this application can be evaluated."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Minister of Interior and AK Party Istanbul Deputy Süleyman Soylu applied to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on Friday, July 26, requesting the removal of his parliamentary immunity. In his petition, Soylu stated that he has been involved in politics for 40 years and has held various positions during this period. Soylu emphasized that in each of the responsibilities he undertook, he had the responsibility to serve the nation, be accountable, and be transparent. He pointed out that the political institution and politicians occasionally face various allegations and accusations.

"I HAVE FACED SYSTEMATIC DEFAMATION"

Soylu stated, "While performing my duty as a member of parliament under the roof of our esteemed Parliament, which I am currently honored to be a member of, and representing and serving our nation, I have been confronted with numerous baseless, completely slanderous, manipulative, and mostly similar defamations produced by internal and external sources that aim to undermine the reputation of our state." In his petition, Soylu emphasized that it is his duty to not remain indifferent to the destructiveness of those who are in partnership and collaboration with criminal organizations in defamation and slander campaigns, and described it as an "indispensable responsibility" to take revenge against those who want to undermine the struggle that has been carried out with loyalty, determination, and sacrifice.

SOYLU: I AM OPEN TO ANY INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTS

Former Minister of Interior and AK Party Istanbul Deputy Süleyman Soylu made striking statements after his application for immunity to the Speaker of the Parliament. Speaking to Halk TV, Soylu said, "I have never spoken out of turn, I have written it very clearly. This is a clear petition, a clear application. There is no time. I mean, I am open to any information and documents they bring whenever they want. We did not lose our honor on the street," he said.
