In the Dazkırı district of Afyonkarahisar, 53-year-old Feride Hozer, who came to a rest stop operating on the Denizli-Afyonkarahisar highway with her daughter, was attacked by a stray dog. While the frightened girl managed to run into the facility, the unfortunate woman experienced sheer horror.
DOG UNAFFECTED BY KICKS AND CHAIR INTERVENTION FROM TWO PEOPLE The dog, grabbing the woman trying to escape first by her arm then her jacket, began dragging her after knocking her to the ground. At that moment, Atilla Özer, who was eating at the facility, rushed to the woman's aid upon hearing his daughter's screams. Despite intervention with kicks and chairs by two people, the uncontrollable dog injured the woman on her arms and legs.
DOG TORE OFF PART OF WOMAN'S ARM The woman, who managed to free her arm by taking advantage of the successive blows to the dog, along with those around her, succeeded in entering the facility in a desperate attempt. After managing to escape, she collapsed to the ground, and it was seen that a palm-sized section of her arm had been torn off by the dog.
DID NOT ALLOW HEALTH TEAMS TO ENTER The dog, which did not allow the health teams arriving at the scene upon notification to enter the facility and continued trying to enter and harm the woman, was brought under control with the help of citizens who came to assist. The woman, who received initial medical intervention from health teams, was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
"I HELPED WITHOUT HESITATION" Atilla Özer, stating that he went outside and intervened in the attack as soon as he heard the screams for help, said, "While we were sitting and eating at the facility, a child running inside from outside said that her mother was being attacked by a dog outside. When I looked outside, I saw a woman being attacked by a dog. I ran outside without thinking. Nothing was on my mind at that moment; my only thought was to save the woman. I tried to drive the dog away and prevent it from injuring the woman using chairs I grabbed and kicking. However, the dog was quite aggressive and continued its attack the more we intervened. Despite all my efforts and those of another person, it had bitten the woman's arm and leg. While continuing to hit the dog, we managed to get the woman inside. Her condition was serious, and she had a deep wound on her arm. We called 112 Emergency Call Center for help, but the dog did not allow the arriving medical personnel to approach the facility. With the support of citizens who came to help, once we managed to restrain the dog, the health teams intervened with the injured woman. If we hadn't been there that day, the woman might not be with us today," he said.
