In the operation where the AKINCI UAV was used for the first time, areas kilometers away were scanned, and thermal traces were detected. As a result, it was announced that 4 million 459 thousand cannabis plants and skunk, which could yield over 100 tons of hashish, were seized in Diyarbakır, along with 150 kilograms of marijuana. Out of the 25 suspects captured in the operation, 17 were arrested and sent to prison.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared details of the operation in which the AKINCI UAV was used for the first time on his official social media account.
AKINCI UAV USED FOR THE FIRST TIME
Minister Yerlikaya reported that in the operation where the AKINCI UAV was used for the first time, drug fields and drug traffickers were closely monitored. With the daytime and nighttime surveillance capabilities of the AKINCI UAV, areas kilometers away were scanned one by one, thermal traces were detected, and movements were reported.
4.5 MILLION CANNABIS ROOTS SEIZED
As a result of the work carried out by the Diyarbakır Provincial Gendarmerie Command with the support of the Gendarmerie Commands of Batman, Muş, Elazığ, Şanlıurfa, Bingöl, and Mardin, operations were conducted with the participation of 124 operational teams and 1,250 personnel.
In the operations organized by the gendarmerie teams, more than 100 tons of powder marijuana could be obtained from 4 million 459 thousand cannabis roots and skunk, along with 150 kilograms of marijuana seized in Diyarbakır. Of the 25 suspects arrested in the operation, 17 were detained, and judicial control measures were imposed on 8 others.

Regarding the operation, Minister Yerlikaya stated, "I congratulate our Diyarbakır Governor, our Chief Public Prosecutors coordinating the operations, our Gendarmerie Public Order Department, our Counter-Terrorism and Narcotics Crime Departments, our Provincial Gendarmerie Commanders who carried out the operations, and our Gendarmerie. Drugs are humanity's greatest enemy! We will continue to fight against the drug traffickers who dare to do this, on behalf of our country and humanity," he expressed.
