Darcie Rowlandson, a farm worker in England, suffered an accident with a cow that left permanent scars on her face. After the accident, Rowlandson discovered the art of medical tattooing, developed her skills in this field, and established her own business called 'As Before' in June 2024. Rowlandson specializes in creating 3D nipple and areola tattoos, particularly for individuals who have undergone cancer treatment.

The unfortunate accident that a farm worker experienced with a cow in England left permanent scars on her face and led to an unexpected transformation in her career.

In an incident that occurred last September in Preston, Lancashire, 20-year-old Darcie Rowlandson was seriously injured while trying to bring the cows into the barn before an approaching storm.

Footage captured by security cameras shows a cow weighing about 400 kilograms resisting guidance and knocking Rowlandson to the ground. As the young woman lost her balance and fell, she attempted to jump over the startled cow, during which the animal's hoof struck Rowlandson's face.

"The cow wasn't malicious; it was just an accident. I kept holding the rope, and when I fell, it got scared," Rowlandson said, noting that the impact resulted in a deep tear on her lip and serious injuries around her eyes.

Rowlandson was taken to Royal Preston Hospital by her father, where she underwent emergency plastic surgery. Doctors had to stitch numerous wounds on the young woman's face.

During her recovery process after the accident, Rowlandson discovered medical tattoo artistry and decided to develop her skills in this field. "My scar remained red for months, and one day while looking for a solution, I learned about medical tattooing. This inspired me," said the young woman, who completed her training in this field in June 2024 and established her own business called "As Before."

Currently serving in Wilmslow and Blackpool, Rowlandson specializes in 3D nipple and areola tattoos, particularly for individuals who have undergone cancer treatment. "I provide free services to women and men undergoing breast cancer treatment and burn victims. The work I do is truly very satisfying," she said.

Rowlandson now sees the unfortunate accident as a turning point: "Everything happens for a reason. If it weren't for this accident, I wouldn't have discovered this profession where I help others."
