In connection with the investigation launched into the fire disaster at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu Kartalkaya, where 78 people lost their lives, the hotel's architect, Ali Bilir, who was detained, was released after his statement to the prosecutor's office.

In one of the 5 hotels located at the summit of the Köroğlu Mountains at an altitude of 2,200 meters in Kartalkaya, one of Turkey's important ski resorts, a fire broke out at around 03:30 on January 21, resulting in the death of 78 people. In the investigation launched regarding the fire, 9 suspects, including hotel owner Halit Ergül, were arrested by the court after their procedures at the Provincial Gendarmerie Command.



THE NUMBER OF DETAINEES HAS INCREASED TO 15



The prosecutor's office expanded the investigation to include Ergül's Gazelle Resort Hotel located in the town of Karacasu. The investigation revealed that the same negligence was present at the second hotel as well. In the operation conducted at the hotel, 11 suspects were taken into custody. Among them, the general manager of the hotel was also included, and the suspects were referred to the courthouse after their procedures yesterday. After the prosecutor's questioning, 6 of the suspects brought to court were arrested, while 5 were released under judicial control. Thus, the number of detainees in the investigation increased to 15.



DEPUTY MAYOR AND ACTING FIRE CHIEF ALSO SENT TO COURT



As part of the investigation, Bolu Deputy Mayor Sedat Gülener and Acting Fire Chief Kenan Coşkun, along with 5 suspects including Fire Personnel İrfan Gazelle and Manager Ahmet Demir, and Interior Architect Ali Bilir, were sent to the courthouse early in the morning.



ARCHITECT RELEASED



Among the 5 suspects taken into custody and sent to the courthouse today, retired architect Ali Bilir (72) was released after his statement at the prosecutor's office. It was reported that the procedures for the other suspects are ongoing.
