Young people in the area are trying to hide from regime forces. Additionally, it has been reported that food products are extremely expensive in the region and there is a fuel shortage. 1400 CIVILIANS KILLED WITH CHEMICAL WEAPONSThe Syrian regime had resorted to chemical weapons on August 21, 2013, killing over 1400 civilians in the Eastern Ghouta region of the capital, which was controlled by opposition forces. Eastern Ghouta also made headlines in 2018 due to the severe attacks on civilians by the Syrian regime and Iran-backed groups, with Russian warplanes involved. After attacks and blockades that resulted in the deaths of thousands of civilians and prevented humanitarian aid from passing through, the opposition in the region evacuated Eastern Ghouta in April 2018. DEVELOPMENTS IN SYRIAOn November 27, clashes began between Assad regime forces and anti-regime armed groups in the western countryside of Aleppo in northern Syria. On November 28, anti-regime armed groups rapidly advanced from the western countryside of Aleppo towards the center, capturing a large part of the center by November 30. On November 30, armed groups that took control of the Khan Shaykhun district continued their advance by clashing in Hama province as well. In the Freedom Dawn Operation launched by the Syrian National Army against the terrorist organization PKK/YPG in the Aleppo countryside on December 1, the district center of Tel Rifaat was liberated from terrorism.
