An 18-month-old baby in Russia was rescued by two nurses after falling from a height of 33 meters from a window of their home. The incident occurred in St. Petersburg. It was reported that the baby was left alone at home and was playing near the window. Noticing the situation, nurses Olga Artemyeva and Anna Kabashova saved the falling child’s life.
The incident in Russia could have turned into a major disaster in seconds. An 18-month-old baby survived a fall from approximately 33 meters high from the window of the upper floor of the apartment, thanks to the calm and quick intervention of two nurses nearby.
The event took place in an apartment building in St. Petersburg. According to eyewitness accounts, the little child tried to open the window while left alone at home. For about 20 minutes, the baby played by the window, occasionally climbing onto the sill and opening and closing the window. It was noted that there were no adults in the house at that time.
Citizens below panicked when they noticed the situation. Two nurses, Olga Artemyeva and Anna Kabashova, immediately sprang into action when they saw the child about to fall. Olga quickly took off her coat, and together with Anna, they stretched the coat out. Their aim was to somehow catch the falling child with a soft surface.
At that moment, a shout rose from the crowd, "It's falling!" The baby fell rapidly downwards in seconds. The impact tore the coat, but the intensity of the fall decreased, and the child landed on the snow-covered ground.
After the incident, the baby was seen to be conscious and crying. He was immediately wrapped in the remaining pieces of the coat to keep warm and taken to the nearest health center. It was later reported that the baby's health condition was good after being transferred to the hospital.
Authorities stated that the parents were at a neighbor's house during the incident, and the 18-year-old brother was playing on the computer in another room. An official investigation has been launched regarding the incident.
This miraculous rescue once again highlighted how severe the consequences of possible negligence could be.
