In the evaluation of body types among new cars sold in 2024, SUV models ranked first with a market share of 56.8%. According to data from the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), the sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey reached 1 million 238 thousand 509 units in the January-December period of 2024, marking a 0.5% increase compared to the previous year and breaking the all-time annual sales record. Car sales increased by 1.3% in 2024 compared to the previous year, reaching 980 thousand 341 units. When evaluated by body type, SUV cars emerged as the most preferred body type with a 56.8% share and 556 thousand 548 sales. SUV MODELS RECORDED A 248 THOUSAND INCREASESUV cars were followed by sedans with a 25.4% share and 248 thousand 902 sales, and hatchback cars with a 16.8% share and 164 thousand 443 units. According to ODMD data, during this period, locally produced cars accounted for 15% of the 85 thousand 579 units sold among SUV cars. By engine type, 319 thousand 956 SUV cars were gasoline-powered, 111 thousand 123 were hybrid, 86 thousand 365 were electric, and 39 thousand 104 were diesel. TOGG MAINTAINED ITS CHAMPIONSHIPLast year, the Togg T10X ranked first among the most preferred SUV models in Turkey with sales of 30 thousand 93 units. It was followed by the Fiat Egea Cross with 25 thousand 526 units, the Renault Duster with 20 thousand 933 units, the Nissan Qashqai with 19 thousand 132 units, and the Peugeot 2008 with 18 thousand 612 units.
