A Russian influencer, Sergey Kosenko, who has 46.6 million Instagram followers, has been issued an arrest warrant due to footage of him throwing his two-month-old baby into a snow pile. Kosenko, also known as "Mr. Thank You," faced significant backlash on social media for this dangerous act.
The video, shared in January 2024 and viewed thousands of times, shows the baby, dressed only in a jacket, being thrown into the air and then disappearing into a deep snow pile. Following the incident, Russian authorities took action and seized Kosenko's assets. Approximately 30 million TL worth of assets in 43 different bank accounts were frozen.
The Moscow Basmanny District Court has issued a warrant for Kosenko, who is currently living abroad, in absentia. According to the court ruling, Kosenko will be held in custody for two months upon his return to Russia. The influencer claims that he used a mannequin, not a real baby, in the video.
After the video titled "Leo's First Flight" received widespread criticism on social media, Kosenko deleted it. However, he later shared new videos showing himself and the baby's mother jumping into the snow. He captioned these videos, "Warning! This is snow! Do not repeat! Very dangerous!"
This incident is not Kosenko's first scandal. In 2021, he faced backlash for driving around Moscow with a woman taped to the roof of his car. The influencer, who splits his time between Los Angeles and Dubai, is facing charges of attempted intentional harm to a minor and child abuse. If found guilty, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
