Ramazan Gümüşsoy, who paid 500,000 lira to intermediaries to bring a bride from Algeria to marry his son in Çanakkale, fell into depression and committed suicide shortly after the wedding when the bride ran away with the gold. The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the runaway bride.
Ramazan Gümüşsoy, who wanted to marry his son with psychological issues in Biga, paid 500 thousand lira to bring a bride from Algeria, which cost him his life.
PAID 500 THOUSAND LIRA FOR THE ALGERIAN BRIDE
Gümüşsoy, who works in a furniture store with his wife, had been trying for a long time to find a suitable match for his son. According to a report in Sabah, the Gümüşsoy family contacted an intermediary for the increasingly common "foreign bride" method in the region and paid 500 thousand lira for Hadil Ayad, who lives in Algeria, to come to Turkey. Ayad arrived in Biga in September and married Muammer Gümüşsoy on October 27.
TOOK THE GOLD AND DISAPPEARED
However, weeks after the wedding, the Algerian bride disappeared. It is claimed that Ayad left the house after collecting the gold and money given at the wedding, and she has not been heard from since. When Muammer Gümüşsoy returned home and could not find his wife, he informed the family about the situation.
THE FATHER'S PAIN ENDED IN A TRAGIC WAY
Realizing he had been scammed and overwhelmed by the pressure of the debts he took for the wedding, father Ramazan Gümüşsoy fell into a deep depression, unable to come to terms with what had happened. The day before yesterday, while no one was at home, he hanged himself from the ceiling, ending his life.
AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED
Following the death of Ramazan Gümüşsoy, the Biga Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation against the Algerian bride on charges of "fraud." The whereabouts of the fleeing bride have still not been found.
