Dönmez's body was transported to the Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
DENIED THE MURDER
In her statement, suspect Dilek Doğan denied the murder allegations against her. Doğan said, "Emine Dönmez was my mother's former neighbor. We spent some time together. She became ill in the car and started coughing. When I patted her back to help, she hit her head and passed away." Doğan also stated that she panicked and then burned the body. After police procedures, Doğan was referred to the courthouse and arrested by the court on charges of 'Intentional Homicide.'
THEY HAD SET OUT FOR SHOPPING TOGETHER
It emerged that family friends Emine Dönmez and Dilek Doğan had come together for shopping on the day of the murder. It was reported that Dönmez had arranged to meet Doğan to go to Kemeraltı for shopping for her grandchildren before Eid al-Adha. It was determined that Doğan picked up Dönmez, who lived in Buca, with her car, and they set off together. Meanwhile, it also emerged that Emine Dönmez's husband had repeatedly called her mobile phone from 16:30 on the day of the incident but could not reach her.
SHE HAD EVEN BEEN A WITNESS AT THE WEDDING
It was determined that Dilek Doğan, who denied the murder, had nearly 2 million Turkish Lira in virtual gambling debts. Jewelry belonging to the murdered Dönmez, including two bracelets, and 30,000 Turkish liras in cash she had taken for shopping, were also found in Doğan's car.
