A car dealer in Denizli wore a lawyer's robe while promoting a vehicle and stated, "A file will be given to anyone who buys this car." The Denizli Bar Association, reacting to the footage, filed a criminal complaint against the dealer on the grounds that it undermined the reputation of the profession.
A gallery owner in Denizli shared a video on his social media account, dressed in a lawyer's robe, to promote car sales. The gallery owner's attention-grabbing post in a robe drew reactions on social media, especially from lawyers. The gallery owner's statement in the video, "A file will be gifted to anyone who buys this car," further intensified the backlash.
DENİZLİ BAR ASSOCIATION FILED A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT Following the vehicle promotion video shot by the gallery owner in a lawyer's robe, the Denizli Bar Association took action. The Bar stated that a criminal complaint was filed with the Denizli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on the grounds that the behavior severely damaged the public nature and reputation of the legal profession.
In a statement regarding the issue, the Denizli Bar Association included the following remarks:
"It has been determined that an individual prepared a car sales video while wearing a lawyer's robe on social media, and in the video content, the individual made statements that are incompatible with the legal profession and belittling to the profession. It is clear that the individual, despite not being a lawyer, wore the robe, which is a symbol of the legal profession, used the robe as a commercial tool, and attempted to severely damage the public nature and reputation of the profession with his statements. As a result of our efforts, the video in question has been removed from the individual's social media accounts, and as the Denizli Bar Association, necessary investigations have been completed regarding the individual, and a criminal complaint has been filed with the Denizli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The Denizli Bar Association, which stands against any actions that harm our profession and the robe we carry with honor, will continue to fight decisively for the reputation of the profession and our colleagues."
