In Antalya, electrical and electronics technician Tuncay Toklu's car, which he bought brand new in 2021, has become a nightmare for him. Toklu stated that he took the car to the service 30 times due to its constant malfunctions, and despite many parts being replaced, including the engine and software, the problem has not been resolved. Toklu, who has resorted to legal action, said, "I bought this vehicle with great dreams, but it has turned my life into a nightmare."

In Antalya, 40-year-old electrical and electronics technician Tuncay Toklu bought a brand new car from a dealer in Izmir in April 2021. However, Toklu's car has been in and out of service since day one, facing various issues.
"I WENT TO SERVICE 30 TIMES, NO PART WAS LEFT UNCHANGED"
Referring to his experiences, Toklu stated, "At first, I thought they were minor malfunctions, but they started to recur frequently in a short time. Since the day I bought the vehicle, I have gone to service approximately 30 times. There are no parts left unchanged, including the engine components, electronic parts, and software programs. However, the problems were not resolved," he said.
"I GOT STRANDED EVERY TIME"
Expressing that he could not travel safely with the vehicle, Toklu said, "Every time I either got stranded or faced an issue. I would leave the service, and shortly after, the same malfunction would occur again. The authorities said, 'The problem has been resolved,' but nothing changed. This process has worn me out both financially and emotionally," he stated.
"MY DREAMS TURNED INTO A NIGHTMARE"
Toklu, who said that the vehicle he bought with great hopes negatively affected his life, stated, "We are currently in a legal dispute with the brand. They do not accept their faults. I had dreams when I bought this vehicle, but it turned my life into a nightmare. Expert reports also found us justified. For this reason, I had to buy another vehicle. I am also reluctant to sell the car I have; I cannot bear to cause anyone else’s misfortune. I am currently a victim," he said.
"WE FOUND IT HARD TO BELIEVE HE WENT TO SERVICE 30 TIMES"
Tuncay Toklu's lawyer, Tolga Alp Kocaoğlu, emphasized the importance of the process in terms of consumer rights. Kocaoğlu said, "When Mr. Tuncay came to our office last year, we found it hard to believe that his car had gone to service 30 times. However, when we went on test drives with him, we also observed the malfunctions. We filed our lawsuit at the Antalya Consumer Court on August 5, 2024. Expert findings were included in the file. We requested the return of the vehicle and its replacement with a similar one," he said.
"PROTECTING THE CONSUMER IS LEGALLY MANDATORY"
Lawyer Kocaoğlu stated that if the case is won, it would set a precedent for consumers experiencing similar grievances, saying, "When a car is bought new, it should provide confidence. However, this vehicle has gone to service 30 times and still exhibited the same malfunctions. In such a situation, protecting the consumer is legally mandatory. Therefore, we believe our case will be accepted," he said.
