There has been no news for 10 years from Furkan Coşkun, who was 20 years old at the time and is alleged to have been beaten in front of his home in Mersin on October 9, 2016, and put into a vehicle. After no trace was found indicating that the young man was alive, the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched a new investigation into the crime of 'intentional killing.' In the investigation, in which legal proceedings were initiated against 9 people, 6 suspects for whom detention orders were issued were apprehended.
A new investigation has been launched by the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on the charge of 'Intentional Homicide' regarding a young person who was allegedly abducted 10 years ago and then disappeared, and who was 20 years old at the time. Six suspects were detained in the operation carried out.
TAKEN AWAY FROM IN FRONT OF HIS HOME AT MIDNIGHT
According to the allegation, on October 9, 2016, S.G. and E.K. approached Furkan Coşkun, who was sitting in the garden of the apartment building where his home is located on 39727 Street, Akdeniz Neighborhood, Mezitli district. The three, who chatted for a while in the garden of the complex at midnight, later argued. Then the two individuals began to assault Coşkun. After the scuffle, the two friends beat Coşkun, took him outside the complex, put him in a vehicle, and drove away.
After the family, who had not heard from their child since that day, filed a complaint, teams from the Public Order Branch of the Provincial Police Department took action; after examining the security camera footage of the complex, they detained the two individuals. The young person's mobile phone was found on the suspects.
It was learned that in their statements at the police station, the suspects said they took Coşkun, whom they had abducted, to a wooded area, and that while they continued to beat him there, he escaped from their hands and fled. Police and AKUT teams searching the wooded area in line with the suspects' statements could not find any trace of the young man. Despite searches lasting for days, Coşkun could not be found, and the two suspects were arrested by the court at that time.
INTENTIONAL HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION 10 YEARS LATER
Even though 10 years have passed, the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took action regarding Furkan Coşkun, who is alleged to be missing but for whom no sign that he is alive could be found in any way. Upon the instruction of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a new investigation was launched on the charge of 'Intentional Homicide' regarding Coşkun, who was taken from in front of his home and from whom no news was ever received again. Within the scope of the investigation, 9 individuals were identified and legal proceedings were initiated, and detention orders were issued for 6 suspects. Six suspects for whom detention orders had been issued were also caught in an operation carried out by teams affiliated with the Provincial Police Department. The suspects were taken to the police station for legal proceedings.
The investigation regarding the operation is ongoing.
