During the budget discussions in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler was asked about the slogans "Allah'ına kurban reis" (which translates to "I sacrifice myself for you, leader") chanted in favor of President Erdoğan at Anıtkabir. In response to the question posed by CHP deputy Tahsin Ocaklı, Minister Güler stated, "We cannot ask someone coming to Anıtkabir, 'Are you going to chant slogans?' Other party leaders receive even more cheers than this." The opposition benches, finding this answer unsatisfactory, expressed, "We have never seen slogans directed at other leaders."
