During the discussion of the Ministry of Justice's budget in the Turkish Grand National Assembly's Planning and Budget Commission, CHP lawmakers showed a model of the "White Toros," which is associated with the unsolved murders of the 1990s, to Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç. Tunç responded to the CHP lawmaker by saying, "You were in power during that period."

In the TBMM Planning and Budget Commission, the budget discussions of the Ministry of Justice for the year 2026 started with tension. Before the discussions, CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba showed a cage containing placards with photos of detained mayors to Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç. At that moment, CHP deputies also presented a model of the white Toros brand vehicle, which is associated with unsolved murders in Turkey's political history, to Minister Tunç as a strong reference.

MINISTER TUNÇ'S REACTION TO "WHITE TOROS"

In response to the display of the white Toros model by the CHP, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç said, "It is a symbol of the 1990s... But you were in power during that period." Regarding the cage and photos shown by Ağbaba, Minister Tunç stated, "There is justice, there is no privilege."

BLACK ENVELOPE TENSION

The tension in the commission increased further when CHP Women's Branch Chair and Osmaniye Deputy Asu Kaya approached Minister Tunç while he was speaking and left black envelopes. Kaya, who stated that she received letters regarding violence against women, said, "Violence against women is political." In response, Tunç, who paused his presentation, said, "Violence against women is our red line. We are the ones who increase the penalties for violence against women. What have you done about violence against women? Tell me that. Don't show off; you are showing off. We will not allow politics to be made over women. Could there be such disrespect?"

MEETING ADJOURNED

Following this, after Commission Chairman Mehmet Muş adjourned the discussions, Yılmaz Tunç left the hall. After the break, Commission Chairman Muş, who reopened the meeting, stated that ensuring the meeting is conducted in an orderly manner is his most fundamental duty. Muş emphasized that he does not approve of the action taken to interrupt Minister Tunç as he began to speak.

Yılmaz Tunç continued his presentation regarding the Ministry's budget for the year 2026.
