Opposition groups, in a remarkably short period of 12 days, effectively reached the capital Damascus "without firing a shot," bringing an end to the 61-year Baath regime. Following the entry of opposition groups into Damascus, Bashar al-Assad and his family fled to Russia, while Israel took advantage of the vacuum to conduct operations in Syrian territory after 51 years. ISRAEL'S ATTACK ON CRITICAL POINTS IN SYRIAIsrael struck chemical weapon stockpiles, radar systems, Russian-made air defense missiles, Scud missile depots, and rocket-carrying ships belonging to the navy, claiming that these could fall into the hands of terrorist groups. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated that chemical weapons and long-range missiles were targeted to prevent them from falling into the hands of extremists. MORE THAN 350 ATTACKS CARRIED OUTTaking advantage of the transitional period in Syria, Israel first expanded its controlled area in the Golan Heights. Before a new government was established in Syria, the Israeli army carried out more than 350 attacks on military bases and critical military units in the country. 70% OF SYRIA'S MILITARY CAPABILITIES HAVE BEEN DESTROYEDThe Israeli Air Force also targeted numerous missile batteries. It is known that Israel targeted a range of weapon systems belonging to the Syrian army, including drones, fighter jets, attack helicopters, radars, tanks, and aircraft hangars. Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee stated that these attacks destroyed more than 70% of Syria's military capabilities. Israel also struck naval bases and warships belonging to the Syrian navy, particularly in Latakia. Additionally, Israel attacked the Syrian naval facility in Mina Al-Bayda, where 15 naval vessels were docked. The Israeli airstrikes targeted Damascus, Homs, Tartus, Latakia, and Palmyra. WHO REPORTED THE TARGETS?As reactions continue to Israel's attacks on critical areas in Syria, it has been claimed that the attacks were coordinated with a minister from the former Syrian administration. A report based on leaked documents suggested alleged cooperation between former Syrian Defense Minister General Ali Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli intermediaries through encrypted messaging applications. The documents in the report also claimed that an Israeli agent identified as "Mousa" communicated with the Assad regime and coordinated attacks on Iranian positions near Damascus and Aleppo.
