The Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) is alleged to have granted prosecutors the authority to seize assets without obtaining reports from MASAK or other relevant institutions in cases of qualified fraud, theft, and misuse of bank/credit cards.
DENIAL FROM DDM REGARDING THE ALLEGATIONS
A statement was made by the Disinformation Combat Center regarding the issue. While the allegation was denied, it was stated that there is currently no work related to the issue in the Parliament.
"THE ALLEGATIONS ARE BASELESS"
The statement included the following remarks: "In some press and social media outlets, false claims are being shared that 'prosecutors have been granted direct authority to seize individuals' assets.' These claims are baseless and constitute disinformation aimed at misleading the public. Firstly, legislative authority, according to Article 7 of the Constitution, exclusively belongs to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. There is currently no work related to the issue on the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
On the other hand, in order to combat qualified fraud, qualified theft, and the misuse of bank/credit cards, and as a preparatory measure in accordance with the international agreements we are a party to, technical-level studies are being conducted among relevant institutions, primarily the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Ministry of Justice. These activities are a natural part of the legislative process and do not yet have binding nature. The public is strongly urged not to trust content that is spread with manipulative purposes and whose accuracy has not been verified.
