According to the latest survey published by Channel 12 Television in Israel, 52% of participants believe that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should not run again in the next elections. 41% of those surveyed expressed support for Netanyahu running again, while 7% stated they were undecided.
LEADERSHIP UNCERTAINTY IN THE LIKUD PARTY
Participants were also asked, "Who should lead the Likud Party instead of Netanyahu?" 48% of those surveyed expressed that they did not want any of the options presented or were unsure. Former Mossad Chief Yossi Cohen emerged as the most preferred name with a support rate of 10%, followed by Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer with 9%.
BENNETT BECAME THE OPPOSITION'S FAVORITE
The survey also asked who should lead the opposition bloc that will compete against Netanyahu. 44% of participants wanted former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett to lead the opposition bloc, while the support rate for Yair Lapid, the leader of the main opposition party Yesh Atid, was 16%.
POLITICAL BALANCES MAY CHANGE
The survey results revealed that support for Netanyahu's long-standing political leadership in Israel has weakened, while discussions about the search for a new leader within the Likud Party have resurfaced.
