The Istanbul Regional Court of Appeals upheld the local court's decision to sentence Deniz Bulutsuz to 2 years and 3 months in prison for the crime of assault. Thus, the sentence became final, and the 45-day period that was not executed under supervised release will be served in an open prison. The process has completed approximately 5 years in the case file between the parties.
After the decision, Ozan Güven, who remained silent for a long time, made a public statement regarding the issue, evaluating the allegations and the decision. Güven denied the accusations against him, claiming his innocence, and explained the events from his perspective. In his statement, he rejected the definitions of violence mentioned in the allegations and said: "They say I experienced violence for hours; you take a woman and get on top of her. You apply violence for hours."
"HOW MUCH LIFE CAN A WOMAN HAVE?"
How much life can a woman have? It's not enough; you hold the woman by her hair and slam her against the wall. That's not enough; you throw her down the stairs, she faints, you pour water on her to wake her up and continue. And the woman can't leave the house. The man who does this is not someone to be protected, coddled, or even looked at. Who can stand against this? He says the doors were closed; the doors were open. I didn't do anything he claims. I didn't hit a woman; I didn't torture a woman. I don't know what happened to her eye; I didn't do it."

However, Güven's statement received backlash on social media. Many users stated that they did not find the famous person's statements convincing, commenting, "If you had really been wronged, you would have sought your rights from the first day" and "Someone who thinks they are innocent does not remain silent for years."
Some users evaluated the statement with a mocking tone, sharing comments like, "Is there anyone who understands what he narrated?" and "He has shown his acting performance here as well."
Güven's statement, coming five years later, reignited discussions regarding both the case and societal sensitivity towards violence against women.
