CHP Deputy Chairman Murat Bakan claimed that university student Görkem Akşit was expelled from the KYK dormitory for sharing his thoughts in a WhatsApp group, and submitted a parliamentary question requesting a response from the Minister of Youth and Sports, Osman Aşkın Bak. Akşit had shared footage in which he said, "They are expelling the child of a martyr from the dormitory" at the moment he was being removed from the dorm.

Murat Bakan stated; "A child of a martyr is studying at a university in the earthquake zone, sharing his discomfort as a citizen regarding the injustices and lawlessness in his country with his friends, and he is expelled from the state dormitory. On one side, hundreds of thousands of students with different opinions come together on the common values upon which humanity is built and raise that rightful voice together; on the other side, some students sharing the same dormitory, the same room, the same desk can cause their friend to be left on the street and disrupt their educational life just because they disagree with their opinion. The same politics that organizes this evil, creating informants from a university student, is also what has put our country in this deadlock and difficult situation. We must change this together. Either all together or none of us."

BAKAN ASKED BAK: WHAT STEPS WILL YOU TAKE?

Murat Bakan, in his proposal, asked the Minister of Youth and Sports, Osman Aşkın Bak, "What is the reason for the expulsion of Görkem Akşit, a student of Mustafa Kemal University, from the KYK dormitory? Has any political motive been investigated in the decision to expel him? How is the expulsion of a student from the dormitory due to a post made by the child of a martyr who sacrificed his life for the homeland explained? What steps will your ministry take regarding this issue? Are the claims that KYK dormitory director Murat Artar previously worked as a security officer and was quickly appointed as dormitory director true? If so, what criteria were used for his appointment? Was there any procedure in accordance with KYK regulations and relevant legislation during the process of canceling Görkem Akşit’s dormitory rights? Is there any inspection mechanism in place to protect the accommodation rights of students staying in dormitories in Hatay? What concrete steps has your ministry taken to solve the accommodation problem of students in the earthquake zone?"
