Following the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, protests continue across Turkey, and a video recorded in the Esenyurt district of Istanbul showcases the point to which the tense atmosphere has brought society.

A video recorded at Kıraç Mosque in Esenyurt, Istanbul, revealed that recent events in the political arena have further deepened the polarization in society.

In the footage, a person can be heard saying, "They continue to throw stones at the police." It was observed that while the congregation tried to calm the arguing individuals verbally, the imam also intervened, calling for calm.

OPERATION REGARDING UNAUTHORIZED DEMONSTRATIONS

On the other hand, following the corruption and terrorism investigations against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB), operations were conducted regarding unauthorized demonstrations, resulting in the detention of 134 suspects, 53 of whom were arrested.

Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the procedures for the 134 suspects detained on the grounds of not complying with the Istanbul Governorate's decision to ban all types of meetings, demonstrations, and press statements from March 19-23 to maintain public order and prevent potential provocative actions have been completed. Of the 134 suspects whose statements were taken by the prosecutor's office at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan, 73 were ordered to be arrested, while 61 were referred to the peace criminal court with a request for judicial control. The court ruled for the arrest of 53 suspects. The court also decided to impose a judicial control measure on 18 of the suspects, including "not leaving the residence," while 63 suspects were released by applying other judicial control measures.

A TOTAL OF 263 SUSPECTS WERE ARRESTED

It has been learned that a total of 263 suspects referred to the Istanbul Peace Criminal Court regarding social events were arrested within the scope of the investigation.
