The bread competition between two markets operating on the same street in the Alanya district of Antalya has benefited the citizens. The price of bread, which is normally 12.5 TL, has dropped to as low as 6 TL. Citizens want the competition between the markets to extend to other products as well.

In the Mahmutlar neighborhood of Alanya district in Antalya, the competition between two markets over bread prices has brought smiles to the faces of the citizens. While the average price of a 210-gram loaf of bread is sold for 12.5 TL, one market in Mahmutlar started selling the same weight of bread for 7.5 TL, while another chain market began selling it for 6 TL. The price competition between the two markets has been welcomed by the local community.

CITIZENS WANT COMPETITION IN OTHER PRODUCTS AS WELL

Citizens struggling with economic difficulties have found some relief thanks to the cheap bread. Neighborhood residents expressed that they want this competition to not be limited to bread alone, but to include basic food and other products as well. Bakers are trying to supply bread to the competing markets.

"MAY OTHER MARKETS FOLLOW SUIT"

Orhan Özen, who is pleased with the bread prices at the market, said, "We would be very happy if other markets implemented the same. These prices have been ongoing for 3-4 days."

Mehmet Ertekin, who stated that he would buy 50 loaves of bread from the market to take to the village, said, "We are quite satisfied because bread is 6 lira at the market. We want all markets to be like this. Many people cannot buy bread. I bought bread here to take to relatives and friends in the village."

Yaşar Yaman, who said that the competition should not be limited to bread and that markets should sell other products at more affordable prices, stated, "Bread is positive, but this needs to be spread more widely. People shop from 2-3 companies, so costs are generally very high. People are very disturbed by this. Bread is somewhat positive."

Citizens are curious about how long the markets engaged in bread competition will maintain these prices.
