In the village of Kolluca in Sivas, a prayer stone was erected on an empty plot of land about 200 years ago for the purpose of conducting funeral prayers, but it has not been used for 33 years. Although the villagers have become accustomed to it, the prayer stone still frightens those who see it for the first time.

In the village of Kolluca, located approximately 19 kilometers from the city center of Sivas, the musalla stone, placed in an empty area two centuries ago for the purpose of performing funeral prayers, has not been used for about 40 years after the construction of a mosque built at a different point within the village.

IT FRIGHTENS THOSE WHO SEE IT FOR THE FIRST TIME

The stone, buried in silence against the dam view, reflects the village's past like a forgotten historical structure. The stone, which seems to challenge history, frightens those who see it for the first time.

NOT USED FOR 33 YEARS

Selahaddin Diri, one of the villagers, stated that in the past, funerals in the village were sent off from here and then buried in the village cemetery located 300 meters away, and he mentioned that the ancient stone has not been used since the village cemetery was submerged under the dam waters in 1992.

"THE MUSALLA STONE HAS A TWO-CENTURY-LONG LIFE"

Selahaddin Diri, one of the villagers, expressed that the musalla stone has a very ancient history, saying, "The history of our village goes back a long time. It is a village known for its beautiful settlements and water. The musalla stone was made for the mosque that was previously in the village. The funeral prayers of the deceased coming to the mosque were performed here before burial. The cemetery is approximately 300 meters away from our village. As far as we know, the musalla stone has an average lifespan of about two centuries. Since our village cemetery is submerged under the dam waters, we bury our deceased in the Yukarı Tekke Cemetery. The musalla stone here stands idle. It looks like a historical artifact. No funerals have been buried in this area since 1992. The musalla stone has been left idle here since 1992," he said.
