A 10-member commission has been established for the new constitution work upon the instruction of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The Constitution Commission formed by the AK Party is starting its activities. The commission's first meeting will be held on June 4th.
The commission established within the scope of the new constitution studies announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is starting its work.
President Erdoğan stated at the Expanded Provincial Chairmen's Meeting of his party that he had given the instruction to establish a commission. Erdoğan said, "I have assigned 10 legal experts, and now these legal experts will start working. With this work, we will hopefully carry out the preparations for the new constitution."
"THE KEY TO THE CENTURY OF TURKEY IS THE NEW CONSTITUTION"
The decision to establish the commission was also made at the AK Party Central Decision and Executive Board (MKYK) meeting held under the chairmanship of President Erdoğan.
The AK Party had expressed its determination regarding the new constitution in its 2023 Election Manifesto under the heading "New Constitution for the Century of Turkey." In this heading, it was stated, "The developments recorded in the field of rights and freedoms so far and the works to be carried out in the upcoming process will only be possible with the establishment of a constitutional order based on human dignity. The key to the Century of Turkey is the new constitution."
NAMES IN THE COMMISSION
The commission, chaired by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, includes AK Party Deputy Chairmen Efkan Ala and Mustafa Elitaş, AK Party Deputy Chairmen Hayati Yazıcı and Ali İhsan Yavuz, AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler, and AK Party Group Deputy Chairmen Özlem Zengin, Muhammet Emin Akbaşoğlu, and Bahadır Yenişehirlioğlu.
FIRST MEETING ON JUNE 4
The commission will hold its first meeting on June 4, and the work will continue throughout the summer. It has been learned that President Erdoğan will occasionally chair the commission meetings.
