In Russia, influencer Anastasia Bragina was criticized by Putin's ex-lover for walking naked. Mizulina accused the young influencer of posting inappropriate content for children and demanded a prison sentence. Bragina, however, defended her action as an experience of liberation.
An influencer who caused a major stir on social media by walking naked through the streets of Moscow was harshly criticized by Ekaterina Mizulina, who is claimed to be the former girlfriend of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
22-year-old Anastasia Bragina argued that her unusual act "fulfilled the purpose of her soul," while 41-year-old Mizulina accused the young influencer of exposing children to inappropriate content. Mizulina demanded that Bragina face up to 12 years in prison.
Images of Bragina, a former reality show contestant, entering stores in Moscow wearing only a thin chain necklace quickly spread on social media. The young influencer claimed her controversial live stream reached approximately 21 million views.
In a statement, Bragina defended her behavior as a personal experience of liberation.
"The universe is guiding me on a benevolent and constructive path. It is helping me break free from all limitations, considering the purpose of my soul," she said.
However, these statements drew a reaction from Russian authorities. Mizulina, known for her closeness to the Kremlin and serving as a senior official in Russia's internet oversight agency, harshly criticized Bragina's behavior.
"This blogger seems to have completely lost her mind and decided to put on a performance in Moscow. She walked naked in the city," Mizulina said in a statement.
Continuing her remarks, Mizulina stated, "She walked through the streets in this state and entered cafes. Of course, all of this was recorded on video."
Accusation of inappropriate content for children
Mizulina noted that initially, Bragina was only fined approximately £38 (4,000 rubles). However, she later announced that the investigation would be expanded.
The Russian official said that charges against the influencer, including "distributing pornographic content on social media and giving inappropriate, sexually explicit advice to children," would be examined.
"This trash blogger is overtly corrupting children on her platforms. She constantly shares nude videos, talks to children in this state about particularly intimate topics, and gives various immoral advice to students," Mizulina said.
Mizulina also claimed that two students came to her office to file a complaint about the nude influencer.
Bragina: "I wanted to overcome my fear"
Bragina, however, stood by her action despite the criticism. The young influencer told her followers that her main goal was to confront her own fears.
"Deep down, I realized I was afraid of appearing naked in front of people in real life," Bragina said, adding:
"In the depths of my soul, I understood that this lesson was waiting for me somewhere, and I needed to overcome this boundary."
The young phenomenon also noted that the idea of going to a store naked suddenly came to her mind.
"I was lying in bed, and suddenly the idea of going to the store naked came to me. I didn't feel any particular fear. The thought came to me calmly," she said.
Bragina's images on Moscow streets have been viewed millions of times on social media, sparking a new debate in Russia over freedom of expression, social media content, and the protection of children.
Whether the young influencer will face any criminal sanctions as a result of the investigation expected to be launched following Mizulina's accusations will become clear in the coming period.
