News that will cool down Istanbul, which is under the effect of scorching heat, has arrived. Meteorology General Directorate Weather Forecast Expert Cengiz Çelik said, 'As of Friday, we expect thunderstorms, especially on Friday and Saturday, in Istanbul and Ankara.'
Meteorology General Directorate Weather Forecast Expert Cengiz Celik made assessments regarding the expected weather conditions in the coming days. Celik noted that temperatures across the country are above seasonal norms, saying, "We are currently experiencing temperatures above the seasonal norm across the country. Precipitation is only continuing in our northeastern regions, the Eastern Black Sea and the northeast of Eastern Anatolia. Apart from that, there is no precipitation in most of the country."
"WE WILL COME UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF A RAINY SYSTEM"
Stating that similar weather conditions will continue on Wednesday and Thursday, Celik said, "Temperatures will remain above seasonal norms on Wednesday and Thursday. While precipitation will only be in the form of short-term and local showers in the Central and Eastern Black Sea and the eastern part of Central Anatolia, we have no expectation of precipitation elsewhere. However, as of Friday, we will come under the influence of a new cool and rainy system coming from the Black Sea."
Celik stated that showers and thunderstorms will be seen in the northern, central and eastern parts on Friday and Saturday, saying, "With the system arriving on Friday, temperatures will also drop below seasonal norms. Only the Aegean Region and Western Mediterranean will be partially affected by this system. Apart from that, we will see precipitation and feel the decrease in temperature in almost the entire country."
THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED IN ISTANBUL ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY
Also providing information about the weather in the three major cities, Celik said that no precipitation is expected in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir on Wednesday and Thursday. Celik said, "Temperatures continue to remain above seasonal norms. As of Friday, especially on Friday and Saturday, we expect thunderstorms in Istanbul and Ankara. Afterwards, as the system moves eastward, we will again feel rainless and hot weather in all three major cities next week."
HEAVY RAIN AND FLOOD WARNING
Cengiz Celik stated that it is still early for a heavy rain warning, but the probability of heavy rain is high in some regions on Friday and Saturday, saying, "Especially for Friday and Saturday, there is a high probability of heavy rain in the Western and Central Black Sea and the eastern part of Central Anatolia. Therefore, it is useful to follow our instant warnings and forecasts at 'mgm.gov.tr'."
Celik warned citizens living in these regions to be careful against sudden floods and water inundations, saying, "Especially on Friday and Saturday, our citizens residing in the Western and Central Black Sea and the eastern part of Central Anatolia need to be careful against possible adversities such as sudden floods and water inundations."
