The number of people who lost their lives due to the collapse of a nightclub roof in the Dominican Republic has risen to 218. Search and rescue operations are ongoing for those trapped under the rubble following the tragedy that occurred on Tuesday, April 8.
The search efforts for those trapped under the rubble continue after the roof of the nightclub named Jet Set collapsed on Tuesday in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Caribbean country of the Dominican Republic.
THE NUMBER OF INJURED WAS ANNOUNCED AS 500
In a statement made by the authorities, it was reported that the death toll has risen to 218 with the discovery of 34 more lifeless bodies in the rubble. It was announced that the number of injured was 500.
TEAMS WORKED ALL DAY FOR 2 DAYS
It was stated that at least 300 personnel, including teams from Israel and Puerto Rico, worked all day for 2 days to remove the piles of rubble made of steel and sheet metal.

Jose Luis Frometa Herasme, the head of the Santo Domingo fire department, stated that it is believed that those trapped under the rubble are no longer alive and that the teams will focus on finding lifeless bodies.
IT IS ESTIMATED THAT THERE WERE 1000 PEOPLE INSIDE
In a statement made by local media, it was expressed that during the incident, there were between 500 and 1000 people in the club, which has a capacity of 1700.
