Protests in Iran, ongoing due to the high cost of living, continue on their 13th day, with 65 people reported dead in the demonstrations. As the number of injured during the protests, which have spread across 31 provinces in the country, continues to rise, it has been reported that the total number of people detained is 2,311.

The Iran Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported that the number of people who lost their lives in the protests that began due to economic issues has risen to 65.

In a report published on the website of HRANA, based in the United States, information was provided about the protests that have been ongoing for 13 days in the country. During this period, the report stated that in the protests spread across 31 provinces in Iran, a total of 50 protesters, including 7 under the age of 18, and 15 members of the security forces lost their lives, and a total of 2,311 people were detained nationwide.

The report emphasized that dozens of people were injured in the ongoing events, stating that the injuries largely resulted from being hit by rubber and plastic bullets. No official statement has been made by Iranian authorities regarding those who died or were injured in the protests.

PROTESTS THAT STARTED IN TEHRAN SPREAD ACROSS THE COUNTRY

On December 28, 2025, protests initiated by shopkeepers in the Tehran Grand Bazaar due to the significant devaluation of the local currency against foreign exchange rates and economic issues spread to many cities in the country.

The Tesnim News Agency announced that the number of police injured in the protests has risen to 568, and the number of members of the volunteer security forces known as Basij has also increased to 66.

While public institutions and vehicles were damaged in various incidents across the country, a warning was issued in Tehran yesterday not to go outside.
