The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that a response would be given to the U.S. sanctions decision against Russian oil producers and exporters. The ministry made a written statement regarding the new sanctions targeting Russia's oil production and exports. The statement noted that the White House aims to harm the Russian economy and make economic relations with Russia impossible, stating, "The interests of U.S. allies in Europe, who are forced to turn to expensive American resources, and the interests of American citizens affected by the consequences of large-scale fires in California are being sacrificed. In this situation, there remains a field for the incoming President, who does not have the authority to lift these sanctions without Congressional approval." The statement emphasized that Russia would respond to this, saying, "Washington's hostile actions will not go unanswered and will be taken into account in our external economic strategy." U.S. SANCTIONS DECISIONThe U.S. Department of the Treasury added Russia's two major oil producers and exporters, Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegas, along with their subsidiaries and some insurance companies like Ingosstrah, to the sanctions list yesterday. Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegas account for about 20% of Russia's total oil exports. Meanwhile, oil prices reached their highest level in the last three months, with an increase of nearly 3% due to supply concerns following the U.S. administration's intensification of sanctions targeting Russia's oil production and exports.
