The delegation is also planning to visit İmralı Island for the second time shortly to meet with the terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan. After that visit, attention will turn to Öcalan's call. MEETING WITH DEMİRTAŞ IN EDİRNEThe delegation's first meeting over the weekend took place yesterday in Edirne. The delegation, consisting of Pervin Buldan, Ahmet Türk, and Sırrı Süreyya Önder, arrived at Edirne Prison. The DEM delegation entered the prison around 1:15 PM. The meeting ended around 3:55 PM. TRANSMITTED DEMİRTAŞ'S MESSAGEAfter the meeting, Buldan, Türk, and Önder made statements to the press. Sırrı Süreyya Önder stated that Demirtaş's health and morale are good. Conveying Selahattin Demirtaş's message, Önder said, "They wanted us to convey that their contributions and support to the developing process are complete." Sırrı Süreyya Önder said, "A broad statement will be made from Selahattin Bey's Twitter account. Especially on television, there are speculations about this issue. There are criticisms that the process is not being conducted transparently. Friends, there is no need for these. These are not things that serve the peace that is coming. If we solve it now, we will solve it with both sides; if we miss this opportunity, 72 parties will intervene in this matter. All our brothers in the public, intellectuals, and artists who support this process have come together for the first time in such a broad platform." Ahmet Türk in the delegation stated, "Our goal is the reunion of two peoples who have lived together for thousands of years, to restore the ancient friendship." Meanwhile, Pervin Buldan expressed, "On behalf of our delegation, we thank both Mr. Demirtaş and Mr. Mızraklı. May our paths be open." DEMİRTAŞ MADE A STATEMENTAfter the meeting, Selahattin Demirtaş made a statement on his social media account. Demirtaş stated that the most sensitive issue of this period is public support. Emphasizing the importance of transparency, Demirtaş said, "Everyone who speaks on these issues should stay away from threats, blackmail, and provocative statements." He expressed their desire for violence to end permanently, stating, "As politicians, our role and mission are to strengthen the ground for peace, to encourage the parties for peace, and to expand peaceful, civil, and political struggle." Demirtaş also mentioned, "For the process to take shape, reassuring concrete steps need to be taken quickly." He thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, and all political party leaders. In his statement at the MHP's parliamentary group meeting, Bahçeli said, "If the terrorist leader's isolation is lifted, let him come and speak at the TBMM DEM Party Group Meeting, proclaiming that terrorism has completely ended and the organization has been dissolved. If he shows this determination and decisiveness, the legal regulation regarding the use of the 'right to hope' should be made, and his access to it should be opened wide." Shortly after this statement, Bahçeli called for permission to be granted to the DEM Party delegation to go to İmralı. On November 26, the DEM Party applied to the Ministry of Justice to meet with the terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı. On December 9, during the budget discussions in the TBMM, Bahçeli applauded DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan after his speech calling for a new beginning. In his speech, Bakırhan stated, "In 2025, in the 103rd year of the Republic, we can make a new beginning. This Assembly has the chance to undertake the founding of a Democratic Republic. The honor of creating a country that 85 million people will feel they belong to belongs to this Assembly." On December 27, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç announced that a positive response was given to the DEM Party's request for a meeting. VISIT TOUR TO POLITICAL PARTIESOn December 28, the DEM Party delegation to İmralı, consisting of Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Pervin Buldan, and Ahmet Türk, who met with terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan, started a visit tour to political parties. The political tour of the DEM members began with a meeting with the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, and continued with the MHP and AK Party.
