The Turkish Grand National Assembly Digital Media Commission convened under the chairmanship of Hüseyin Yayman. During the meeting, recent digital developments were discussed, and Commission Chairman Hüseyin Yayman made striking statements regarding the digital copyright law. Yayman stated, "I am opening the 10th meeting of the 28th Legislative Term. Preparations for the digital copyright issue have been completed. We are working in collaboration with our Ministry of Culture and Tourism. We will bring it to the Turkish Grand National Assembly after the budget discussions. We will prevent labor theft." Yayman criticized the uncontrolled transformation of digital media, continuing his remarks: "We are in favor of freedoms. We are not in a prohibitive stance. However, we do not accept that people who call themselves influencers do not recognize any rules or norms to gain interaction. On one hand, they talk about artificial intelligence, while on the other hand, they discuss online gambling. Unfortunately, this is one of the effects of globalization." WHAT DOES THE DIGITAL COPYRIGHT LAW COVER?Google has long been at the center of discussions due to the digital copyright law. After European Union countries condemned Google to pay royalties for news texts appearing in search results, attention turned to Turkey. Google, which generates billions of dollars in revenue by serving news content produced worldwide, has recently decided to pay 300 media organizations in Europe. With the "digital copyright law" decision taken in a major move in the European Union, Google has been cornered. In countries regulating the digital copyright law, Google will no longer be able to earn money from free content.
