BİLGE, Turkey's domestic and national large language model developed by TÜBİTAK, is preparing to open for general use. The Turkish-focused AI model can be used in many areas such as content generation, translation, legal analysis, and public services. BİLGE will enter state service as President Erdoğan's personal AI assistant.
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Turkey's domestic and national large language model BILGE, developed by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, is preparing to be made available for general use after final preparations are completed.
Developed based on the linguistic structure, cultural heritage, and semantic layers of Turkish, BILGE aims to strengthen digital sovereignty and become one of the cornerstones of the domestic artificial intelligence ecosystem.
FULL COMMAND OF TURKISH
BILGE can generate reports, correspondence, content drafts, and original texts in natural and fluent Turkish. Capable of summarizing long texts, the model can provide contextually appropriate responses regarding content.
The system, which can translate between Turkish and English, accurately conveys proper names, idioms, and cultural references, while also capable of legal text analysis, regulatory inquiries, and integration with corporate knowledge bases.
TO BE USED IN MANY AREAS
BILGE is planned to be used in many areas, from citizenship services to banking, from finance to healthcare, and from education to cloud systems.
The model will also be able to handle customer service automation, content production, document analysis, decision support systems, and academic research. In the healthcare field, it will support medical record processing, clinical document analysis, and patient communication processes.
THINK LIKE A TURK
One of the most notable features of BILGE is that it centers on Turkey instead of a default culture. While using Turkish as its primary language of thought, the model aims to produce responses with natural and fluent expressions, not through translation logic.
The system is reported to process Turkish with lower cost, higher speed, and less energy consumption.
NATIONAL DATA WILL REMAIN IN TURKEY
BILGE will contribute to the development of critical artificial intelligence technologies with domestic resources. Through the model, it is aimed to process and store national data within the country while reducing foreign dependency.
122 BILLION PARAMETER MODEL COMING
The BILGE family offers different model options ranging from 1 billion to 122 billion parameters. Currently available in 1, 9, and 27 billion parameter versions, the 122 billion parameter model is being developed for complex reasoning and multi-step problem-solving tasks. Developed end-to-end with domestic capabilities by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM engineers, the model has been trained on 1 trillion words of raw data.
PREPARING FOR GENERAL USE
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan described BILGE as an important indicator of Turkey's progress in this field during the introduction of Turkey's Artificial Intelligence Vision and Action Plan.
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced that BILGE will be used as President Erdoğan's personal artificial intelligence assistant and disclosed that new programs will be implemented to expand domestic artificial intelligence solutions across different sectors in the coming period.
Announcements regarding BILGE's access processes and usage conditions are expected to be shared through the official communication channels of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and TÜBİTAK.
