France has banned Israel's official participation in the Eurosatory defense fair to be held in Paris. While the French Ministry of Defense will not allow Israel to set up a national stand or send government representatives, it has permitted Israeli companies to display only air defense systems. Confirming the decision, Israel described the move as a "shameful decision based on political and commercial calculations" and reacted strongly against the Paris administration.
Tensions have escalated between France and Israel in the defense industry and diplomacy. The French Ministry of Defense has banned Israel's official participation in Eurosatory, one of the world's largest defense industry fairs, to be held in the capital Paris. The Israeli Ministry of Defense harshly reacted to the decision, calling the move "shameful."
NO NATIONAL STAND OR GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVE ALLOWED
France has closed its doors to Israel for the Eurosatory defense fair to be held in Paris from June 15-19. According to the decision, Israel will not be permitted to set up a national stand (pavilion) at the fair, and no official Israeli government representative may attend the event.
NOT JUST A WAR, BUT ALSO AN ARMS EMBARGO: "ONLY AIR DEFENSE"
The sanctions from the Paris administration were not limited to political representation and stand bans. France also imposed heavy censorship on the military technologies that Israeli companies attending the fair could exhibit. Israeli defense industry firms were banned from displaying offensive weapon systems and combat vehicles at the fair. Companies were only permitted to showcase air defense weapons and related auxiliary products.
HARSH RESPONSE FROM ISRAEL: "A SHAMEFUL DECISION"
The Israeli Ministry of Defense, confirming the ban, essentially lashed out at France. Arguing that the decision violates international norms, the ministry issued the following statement:
"This decision by France is a shameful step based entirely on political and commercial calculations. It constitutes a direct violation of the established rules and norms governing international defense fairs."
PARIS HAS PREVIOUSLY PUT UP A WALL
Fair crises between France and Israel are not new. At the 2024 Eurosatory fair, France initially completely banned Israeli firms but later stepped back. At the 2025 Paris Air Show held last year, organizers isolated Israeli stands displaying offensive weapons by surrounding them with black partition walls. The growing international pressure due to operations in Gaza and Lebanon has led Paris to adopt a much stricter embargo decision this time.
