After a car maneuvered in Istanbul's Zeytinburnu district, an IETT bus went out of control and crashed into a building site wall, resulting in 2 deaths. The driver of the car that caused the accident was arrested on charges of 'causing death and injury through negligence.'
Within the scope of the investigation into the IETT bus accident in Zeytinburnu, where 2 people died and 19 people were injured, the car driver R.S.F., who was taken into custody, has been arrested.
The accident occurred yesterday at around 17:00 on Kennedy Street in the Kazlıçeşme neighborhood. The driver of the car moving in the left lane, R.S.F., wanted to enter the junction on the right. At that moment, noticing the IETT bus traveling in the middle lane, the driver abandoned his maneuver and returned to his own lane. The IETT bus driver, A.G., who tried to switch to the right lane to avoid hitting the car, lost control of the vehicle. The bus crashed into the garden wall of the complex and came to a stop. Upon notification, fire brigade, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
BUS DRIVER SERIOUSLY INJURED
In the checks carried out by medical teams, it was determined that Solmaz Karadoğan and one other person lost their lives in the accident. In the accident, where the bus driver A.G. was seriously injured, 18 passengers were also injured.
NOT FOUND TO BE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL
In the MOBESE footage related to the accident, R.S.F., who was stated to have cut in front of the IETT bus with his car and distracted the driver, was taken into custody by police teams. After completing his procedures at the police station, R.S.F. was referred to the courthouse. Tests conducted on the car driver R.S.F. and the IETT driver A.G. determined that they were not under the influence of alcohol. Following the issuance of the fault report, the suspect car driver was arrested by the court on the charge of 'causing death and injury by negligence'.
