A driver who did not comply with the police's warning and fled in a light commercial vehicle was stopped after a 25-kilometer chase in Erzurum. The driver, who was found to have a blood alcohol level of 2.87 promille, was determined to have 7 previous records for the offenses of 'driving under the influence' and 'endangering traffic safety.' His driver's license was confiscated until the year 2060.
In the Aziziye district, Orhan E. (37) crashed into another vehicle with the light commercial vehicle with license plate 25 SD 996 and fled the scene. Upon receiving reports from the surrounding people, police teams began to pursue the vehicle. Despite megaphone warnings and a 'stop' order, Orhan E. continued to flee on the Erzurum-Aşkale highway.
During the chase, the police vehicle narrowly avoided crashing into a truck ahead. Orhan E., who alarmed the teams, was stopped at the Aşkale Application Point after a half-hour chase, with a gun pointed at him. Orhan E., who was handcuffed and placed in the police vehicle, was found to have a blood alcohol level of 2.87 promille during the check. While Orhan E. was taken to the police station for processing, the vehicle he was driving was towed to the impound lot.
CRIMINAL RECORD IS EXTENSIVE
It was learned that Orhan E. had 20 records for various crimes, and it was determined that he had been processed 7 times for 'Driving under the influence' and 'Endangering traffic safety', with his driver's license revoked until 2055. The revocation period for Orhan E.'s driver's license, who was caught driving under the influence for the 8th time, has been extended until 2060.
