The Mayor of Taşlıçay district in Ağrı, Mehmet Ali Budak, announced his resignation from the DEM Party. In his written statement, Budak stated that he was elected as the mayor of Taşlıçay with a majority of 60% in the Local Government Elections on March 31. CLAIMED TO BE OBSTRUCTEDBudak stated that the services they wanted to provide in the district were obstructed and hindered by certain individuals within the DEM Party. He said, "In my election, Azeri, Kurdish, Turkish, and Karapapak people who voted for this party with a 40% influence supported my candidacy. However, certain individuals within the party try to waste our time by presenting different paths that are unrelated to our goals and services, such as 'why don't you remove the President's photo' or 'why do you attend protocols and national holidays'." "I WANT TO PROVIDE EQUAL SERVICE"In his continued statement, Budak stated that he decided to resign in order to provide equal service. He said, "I am resigning from the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) of my own will in order to provide equal service to all the people of our cosmopolitan district, including Azeri, Karapapak, Kurdish, and all our citizens." BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY DID TO A MARTYR'S MOTHER...Budak stated that pressure was applied to appoint Cemile Duman as the deputy mayor and illegal proposals were made. He emphasized that the main factor in his decision was the repeated investigations opened against him by the Van and Ağrı branches of the party for repairing the garden of a martyr's mother. Budak emphasized that no one can take away the right to receive services by categorizing people. He continued, "Just as we waved the flag of the Republic of Turkey, which is the flag of all of us, in our first rally, we will continue to wave it in our municipality and resign from the party with respect. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to my election as mayor and assure that I will continue to serve in an equal and fair manner in the future."
