With the completion of this massive investment of approximately 15 billion liras, it is aimed to ease regional traffic and provide drivers with significant time and fuel savings.
MASSIVE PROJECT NEARING COMPLETION
Work on the Malatya Ring Road Project, one of the most critical transit points for regional transportation, has reached the completion phase. Efforts are ongoing at the final stage site at the Pütürge junction on the 53.5-kilometer massive project, which lies on the transit route of 16 provinces in the Eastern Anatolia and Southeastern Anatolia regions.
TRANSIT TRAFFIC OF 16 PROVINCES WILL BE MOVED OUTSIDE THE CITY
Referring to the historical process and importance of the project, AK Party Malatya Deputy Bülent Tüfenkci said, "We are witnessing the nearing completion of an important project whose tender was held in 2016 after I became a minister, whose foundation was laid in 2017, but which was prolonged due to the contractor company's issues and some expropriation problems at that time, and later gained momentum. This project is not just a work concerning Malatya; it directly concerns 16 provinces in the East. Due to Malatya being at a junction point, vehicles coming from the East and Southeast experiencing congestion on the existing ring road caused economic difficulties and led passengers to give up on comfort. When the project is completed, it will provide both comfortable and safe transportation and offer significant benefits in terms of fuel and time economy."
"IT WILL BOTH GROW THE CITY AND RELIEVE TRAFFIC"
Tüfenkci, stating that new transportation networks were added to the project over time, said, "We are at the final phase of the project at the Pütürge junction. Additions were also made to this project over time. After the earthquake, we had built significant TOKI housing in Gelinciktepe. An overpass, a bridge and transportation network, was created for access to those TOKI residences. Also, in the Hatunsuyu region, there is the Hatunsuyu connection road built by our highways, and further ahead, we have connection roads at the Battalgazi junction. Therefore, this transportation network is a project that will both grow Malatya and relieve Malatya's traffic. We are talking about an investment approaching approximately 15 billion liras in today's money."
OPENING DATE ANNOUNCED
Providing information on the timeline for completing the work, Tüfenkci said, "According to the information given to us by the field teams, hopefully, this project will be completely finished at the end of October or the beginning of November. Then, we will hopefully make the official openings together. For this project, I extend my thanks to our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as well as all our ministers of transport, including Binali Yıldırım and Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, and everyone who contributed. May it be auspicious and beneficial for our Malatya."
