After the dismissal of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Administration, delegates applied to a notary for an extraordinary provincial congress. It was stated that the provincial congress would be held on September 24, while CHP Chairman Özgür Özel described the event that affected him the most during the process. Özel said, "The delegates went to the notary, there was an expense of around two thousand lira, they gave their signatures. I got goosebumps, my throat tightened."
After the Istanbul Provincial Administration of the CHP was suspended by the 45th Civil Court of Istanbul, the delegates applied to the notary for an Extraordinary Provincial Congress. Party sources reported that nearly all provincial delegates signed, and an application was made to the CHP Sarıyer District Election Board. According to the application, the Istanbul Extraordinary Provincial Congress will be held on September 24.
TENSION AT ITS PEAK
The tension that began after the dismissal of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Administration has reached its peak. Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as a trustee, entered the CHP Istanbul provincial building with police intervention, while the CHP administration decided to close the building and move the provincial presidency.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who made a statement regarding this process, revealed the event that affected him the most. Speaking to Cumhuriyet, Özel said, "We have worked on all possibilities with our party's lawyers. We have been working for months. Finding the Civil Court's decision legally invalid is one thing; not taking precautions against it is another. We cannot leave the field to them. When we realized that the issue was going to a critical point, our delegates signed for an extraordinary congress. In a day and a half, our delegates provided nearly a thousand signatures. After a trustee or annulment decision, there would be no Istanbul congresses; we technically and legally planned an extraordinary convention called by the delegates, not by the Party Assembly or the chairman. We implemented that. No one can stop that convention. Because it means that the convention is being held despite this administration. I had already called for an extraordinary convention on April 6. But they say, 'The chairman was elected in the last congress, so that decision will not be effective'... Now, excluding the Istanbul delegates and the central headquarters, an extraordinary convention is being convened. The most satisfying aspect for me here is that we are facing one of the biggest attacks in the party's history, and while the attackers think they can intimidate the party, there is such a unity... Delegates went to the notary, there is an expense of around two thousand lira, and they gave their signatures. We applied in a day and a half. My hair stood on end, and my throat tightened. The delegates are so aware of the issue, the motivation is at its highest point. This has never been seen in history. We are also convening the Istanbul provincial congress extraordinarily. 540 signatures were collected. Özgür Çelik was elected with over 300 votes. In other words, those who did not vote for him signed in support. This is the most important indication that what those trying to divide the CHP have done has backfired significantly among the delegates, members, and the public." he said.
